The average price of a gallon of regular gasoline in the state remains steady at $2.37 following the rising trend in prices in recent weeks.
During that same period, the average national price for a gallon of gas also jumped by four cents to $2.36, according to the popular price-tracking website GasBuddy.
The $2.37 statewide average reported on Tuesday morning is higher than both New Hampshire’s average $2.28 price per gallon and Vermont’s average price of $2.34 per gallon.
“The largest price increases remain in the Midwest, which has been impacted by an unplanned refinery outage at Marathon’s 144,000 barrels-per-day facility in Detroit and a concurrent jump in Chicago’s wholesale market, which opened today with the highest wholesale gasoline prices in the country,” Gregg Laskoski, a senior petroleum analyst at GasBuddy, wrote in a release.
