The Brunswick Local Redevelopment Authority at a meeting last night unveiled two possible reuse plans for the Brunswick Naval Air Station.
After spending more than a year considering how to redevelop the base, which is slated to close in 2011, the BLRA has narrowed down the options to two plans. Both include space for an airport, aviation-related businesses, education and recreation, but Plan A also includes a 150-acre office park and a road connecting to Route One. People who attended the public meeting Thursday night chose Plan A by a three-to-one margin in a straw vote, Steve Levesque, executive director of the BLRA, told Mainebiz.
The BLRA plans to vote on a plan on September 19, and present a final proposal to the U.S. Navy, which still controls the property, in December, Levesque said.
