Rocky’s Ace Hardware stores round up donations for animal shelters

Rocky’s Ace Hardware, a Massachusetts-based retailer with two stores in Maine, is inviting customers to round up their purchases to the next dollar this month, with the difference donated to local animal shelters.

In Maine, Rocky’s has stores in Kennebunk and Bath, which are staffed by a total of 38 employees.

Through its annual “Round Up for Pets” fundraiser, Rocky’s provides support to organizations caring for animals in the community. Every small contribution adds up, helping shelters provide food, medical care, shelter and other essentials for animals waiting for homes.

“Shelters do so much for animals in our communities, and this time of year can put even more pressure on the resources they have available,” said Rocco J. Falcone II, the company’s president and CEO.

“A few cents from a purchase may seem small, but when our community comes together, those donations can make a meaningful difference for an animal in need,” he noted.

Rocky’s two Maine stores are both participating in the program, which runs through the end of September.

Proceeds will benefit the Kennebunk-based Animal Welfare Society and the Midcoast Humane Society, with locations in Brunswick and Edgecomb.

“Every animal deserves a safe place, a full bowl and a chance to find a loving home,” Falcone said. “We’re grateful to our customers for helping us support the people who work every day to make that possible.”
