Nine of 22 rural hospitals in the state were listed in the Leapfrog Group’s 2013 Rural Hospitals list, a national survey of more than 200 rural hospitals, The Associated Press reported.
The designation recognizes hospitals that prevent medical errors, reduce mortality for high-risk procedures and reduce hospital readmissions. Â
The nine hospitals named to the list are Blue Hill Memorial Hospital; Calais Regional Hospital; Houlton Regional Hospital; Charles A. Dean Memorial Hospital in Greenville; Down East Community Hospital in Machias; Inland Hospital in Waterville; LincolnHealth’s Miles Campus in Damariscotta; Sebasticook Valley Health in Pittsfield; and Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway.
