The city of South Portland is exploring plans for an outdoor concert venue at a waterfront park that could accommodate up to 10,000 people.
The Bangor Daily News reported the concept is still in the early stages of planning, but the city’s assistant city manager, Jon Jennings, has received permission from abuttor Portland Pipe Line Corp. to explore the idea.
Jennings said the city is now crunching the numbers on what the venue would cost. He cited Bangor’s success with its waterfront concert series as one reason for his interest in South Portland constructing a similar venue. Jennings has not yet sought any permits or submitted plans.
