General Dynamics’ Saco Defense is benefiting from a $7.8 million Navy contract to build weapons for fighter jets.
General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products has been tapped to build 22 lightweight Gatling gun systems for the F/A-18 fighter aircraft program, according to a press release from U.S. Sens. Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe. About half the work will be done in Saco, and General Dynamics’ facility in Burlington, Vt., will handle contract management and testing, according to The Associated Press.
The work will wrap up by April 2013.
