General Dynamics has been awarded a $6.9 million contract to build machine guns for the U.S. Army at its facility in Saco.
GD’s Armament and Technical Products division will build 600 M2 heavy-barrel machine guns for the Army’s Life Cycle Management Command, according to the Bangor Daily News. The work will be done at the Saco facility, which employs more than 400 people. General Dynamics has received seven such orders since the company received an initial contract from the Army in 2009.
The work is expected to be completed next spring.
