Nearly six months after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, Sandy Pines Campground in Kennebunkport is set to start a new ownership chapter under a Tennessee-based company that acquired the resort.
Streamside Parks LLC, the Nashville-based owner of 40 properties across 17 states with more than 4,000 RV and lodging sites, announced the court-approved acquisition on Wednesday.
While the original agreed purchase price was $13.5 million, the company declined to comment on a report in the Portland Press Herald that the final price had been revised upward to $14.5 million.
“Our team has admired this property for some time, given the immense charm and draw of the Kennebunkport area," Jen Milam, Streamside’s chief growth officer, said.
“Sandy Pines is a beautifully done resort in a fantastic location, and has become one of the premier camping resorts in Maine,” she added. “We are dedicated to preserving its deep ties to the local community, honoring its unique coastal character, and ensuring it remains a premier Northeast outdoor destination for generations to come.”
Streamside bought the property from Atlantic Hospitality, a Kennebunk-based company owned by Tim Harrington that will continue to manage the campground through the 2026 season.
Other properties in Atlantic Holdings' portfolio include the Lincoln Hotel in Biddeford, the Dunes on the Waterfront in Ogunquit, the Claremont Hotel in Southwest Harbor and the Salt Cottages in Bar Harbor.
Located at 277 Mills Road, Sandy Pines offers 224 total sites, including 83 RV sites, 46 tent sites, 66 glamping setups (including safari tents, A-frame hideaway hut and glass houses), and 29 seasonal park models. On-site amenities include a historic lodge, a general store and snack bar, a heated saltwater pool, modern bathhouses, a playground, fire pits, laundry facilities and paddleboard and kayak rentals.
Streamside said it plans to support the local team at Sandy Pines with national operational resources and evaluate targeted capital investments for coming seasons.
