Scallop fishermen are reaping record prices this year.
The Associated Press reported that scallops are selling for $13.50 a pound at the dock early this year, up from $12.70 in 2015 — which was then a record.
The price at the dock is more than three times what fishermen received in 2004, the Maine Department of Marine Resources told the AP.
On the retail side, consumers are paying $20 to $25 a pound, the AP reported.
