Senate confirms engineer to PUC post

The Maine Senate has confirmed engineer Mark Vannoy to serve on the Maine Public Utilities Commission. Gov. Paul LePage nominated Vannoy earlier this month.

The Senate voted 33-0 yesterday to back a recommendation made by the Committee on Energy, Utilities and Technology to confirm Vannoy, according to The Associated Press. Vannoy, of Waldoboro, is associate vice president of the civil and infrastructure engineering practice group of Wright-Pierce.

Vannoy will serve through March 31, 2013, to complete the term of Vendean Vafiades, who resigned from her position earlier this year.
