Hammond Street Senior Center in Bangor has sold its building and shut down operations of the senior community organization.
The Bangor Daily News reported that organization officials, a day after shuttering operations at the community center, said Monday they had sold the former bank building at 2 Hammond St.
Executive Director Kathy Bernier told the BDN she is hopeful the organization can reopen in a new location sometime next summer.
The buyer, 127 Franklin St. LLC, a company affiliated with DES Properties LLC, paid an undisclosed price. Bangor-based DES Properties manages several multi-unit residential properties and some commercial properties, according to the BDN. The company wouldn’t discuss plans for the building.
