SKILLS goals are focused on building upon our existing programs throughout central Maine: 13 small group residential homes, three daytime community support locations, community belonging and membership, employment services, and Opportunities Driving School.

SKILLS seeks to bolster our staffing by adding Direct Support Professionals to our team, both full-time and per diem.

SKILLS seeks to expand awareness of our work and foster new relationships in the Kennebec, Penobscot and Somerset County communities, partnering with additional businesses and organizations for employment, volunteer and enrichment opportunities for the people SKILLS supports.

SKILLS will continue efforts to move forward with the Quarry Road, Waterville residential project, which recently received approval for Congressionally Directed Spending funds that will cover part of the project’s cost. The project consists of renovating and rebuilding residential properties, resulting in updated, accessible and affordable housing for 12 individuals.

Build a funding base for SKILLS Opportunities Driving School so it is set for success beyond the term of its current primary supporting grant, which is set to end in 2024.

SKILLS has an Annual Appeal in October and an Annual Friends and Family Picnic in August. Throughout the year, contributions may be made to SKILLS on a one-time or recurring basis via https://skillsinc.net/supportskills. Giving Opportunities
Every gift made to SKILLS helps the organization in its work to support more than 100 people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who are living in central Maine as they pursue their goals, grow in independence, and lead a more enriching life.

Gifts may also be directed to SKILLS Opportunities Driving School and mailed to the SKILLS administrative office at 461 Hartland Road, St. Albans, ME 04971.
Volunteer Opportunities
SKILLS is committed to being an active community member and welcomes volunteers to share their gifts with the people we support. If you have a craft, recipe or special talent to teach to a small group, we would love to hear from you. For example, a current volunteer regularly teaches cardmaking at a SKILLS community program near different holidays.
We also welcome ongoing partnerships with local businesses or organizations that can provide job shadows, employment or volunteer opportunities for the SKILLS community, or experiential opportunities. For example, individuals from SKILLS volunteer at the Somerset Humane Society and the Waterville Area Food Bank. We have had experiential excursions to locations such as Ephphatha Community Farm.
SKILLS is also seeking community members to serve on our Board of Directors, advising and supporting the organization.
