Geiger Bros., the publisher of the Farmers’ Almanac, has laid off 10 employees due to an anticipated slowdown in orders.
Peter Geiger, executive vice president of the Lewiston-based company, said the layoffs were made in anticipation of a slower year due to a possible national recession and a need to maximize efficiency, the Sun Journal reported. The 10 employees affected worked in the company’s Mount Hope Avenue plant.
Geiger, which also publishes day planners and promotional products, employs about 500 people in Maine and in 15 out-of-state field offices, according to its website.
