SMMC to expand with $17.5M FAME bond

Biddeford’s Southern Maine Medical Center, operated by the Webber Hospital Association, plans to build a 40,000-square-foot medical office building and renovate existing buildings after receiving a $17.5 million bond through the Finance Authority of Maine and TD Bank.

FAME announced the award comes through the authority’s “conduit” bond program, allowing bonds to be placed with private lenders.

As part of the expansion, the medical center plans to hire about nine people in primary health care jobs.
