Two Maine businesses have teamed up to expand testing for COVID-19 in the state.
South Portland-based AFC Urgent Care is now working with OpBox, a Portland builder of portable “pods” that can be used as business spaces, to bring the tests to first responders. The companies will bring their mobile test facility to Saco on Tuesday and Thursday to screen police officers and firefighters, according to a news release.

The mobile site has already traveled to test first responders in Augusta, Portland and South Portland. AFC and OpBox are also discussing plans for testing in other communities.
The South Portland business is a franchise of AFC Urgent Care, a national chain of 200 express medical clinics. The clinic on Waterman Drive has already conducted over 1,000 antibody tests for exposure to COVID-19.
“AFC Urgent Care is working toward making testing available to the public via the mobile unit,” said Lee Moehlenkamp, managing director of AFC Urgent Care, in the release.
