The South Portland City Council has begun discussions on whether to join Portland and Bangor in seeking to increase the minimum wage on a local level.
The Forecaster reported that all city councilors agreed that the minimum wage is too low, but differed on whether it should be raised on a local or regional level.
The city council said it will do more fact-finding before moving forward with a formal discussion on whether to introduce a local ordinance.
