Stantec lands $4.9M award for work at Kittery shipyard

The U.S. Navy has awarded Stantec Consulting Services a $4.9 million contract for architect-engineering services for the Dry Dock No. 1 superflood basin at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery.

An international professional services company in the design and consulting industry, Stantec has local offices in Topsham, Scarborough and Caribou. It is headquartered in Burlington, Mass.

“This announcement is welcome news for the hardworking men and women of Portsmouth Naval Shipyard,” U.S. Sens. Susan Collins, R-Maine, and Angus King, I-Maine, said in a joint statement announcing the award. “This design contract will help prepare for later military construction at the shipyard, and we applaud the Navy for continuing to plan for future investments in Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, the Maine economy and our national defense.”

Collins is a senior member of the Senate Defense Appropriations Subcommittee and King is a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee.

All work on Stantec’s competitively awarded contract will be performed at various Navy and government facilities within the Naval Facilities Engineering Command Mid-Atlantic area of responsibility. Work is expected to be completed by August 2022.
