Start of Maine’s heating season brings rising oil costs

Just in time for the start of the fall season, heating oil prices in Maine have risen following several weeks of steady pricing.

The Governor’s Energy Office conducted its weekly heating fuel price survey on Oct. 3 and found the current statewide average cash price for No. 2 heating oil was $1.93, an eight-cents increase from the Sept. 16 heating survey. The average statewide price for kerosene held at $2.45, an increase of four cents from the same survey.

Propane prices rose by a single penny since the early September report to $2.19 per gallon, according to the survey.
