Sugarloaf real estate agency sees 17% sales rise

Sugarloaf’s official real estate agency on Monday reported a 17% increase for sales in Carrabassett Valley last year.

Mountainside Real Estate closed on 95 transactions in 2014, totaling $12.3 million in sales volume, the agency said in its announcement. There were a total of 146 transactions in Carrabassett Valley.

The agency said 2015 is already off to a good start.

“We expect 2015 to be even better,” Sam Punderson, an agent with Mountainside, said in a prepared statement. “January is already off to a strong start with more than $2 million in pending sales, as of January 31.”

The agency said the sales growth also was fueled by new construction, with four single-family homes built in the Timberline Lodges development. More construction is slated for the area.
