2024 Goals
This is Sweetser’s year of growth. Sweetser’s dedicated and experienced staff are amplifying our impact in every corner of our state.
We are expanding programs and services to reach more Mainers in need of treatment, support and hope. Sweetser is planning to open a Child ACT (Assertive Community Treatment) team in Southern Maine. This total-team approach will ensure children most at risk can get the help they need right in their own community. In conjunction with our special purpose private school, providing experiential learning and day treatment services, and embedding clinicians in schools across Maine, Sweetser is tackling the youth mental health crisis head on.
Our substance use recovery outreach program, known as OPTIONS (Overdose Prevention Through Intensive Outreach, Naloxone and Safety), is expanding with additional staff in York and Oxford counties.
Sweetser’s comprehensive eating disorders program is adding more in-person services alongside its state-of-the-art telehealth platform.
Sweetser is on the move, but we need you to continue this momentum. All Mainers deserve access to behavioral health. Your partnership with us can make that a reality.
Fundraising events/Opportunities
- Sweetser holds at least two major fundraising events each year with corporate sponsorship opportunities and donor support required to make them possible.
- Sweetser/Jack Chevrolet Golf Classic is one of the area’s most popular charity tournaments in Maine. The tournament is held in June with a 36-team scramble.
- Sweetser/KeyBank Sold on Kids Auction is our largest annual fundraising event. This year the live auction will be held at River Winds Farm in September to raise critical funds to support those living with mental and behavioral health challenges.

Giving Opportunities
- Sweetser appreciates and welcomes donations throughout the year from anyone who wants to support the thousands of Maine children, families and adults in need of care and treatment for their mental and behavioral health.
- Individuals and families can make outright cash gifts to support Sweetser’s mission or may choose to earmark their gift to a specific program or in honor or memory of a loved one.
- Sweetser welcomes, bequests or legacy gifts as well as endowments and gifts of stocks or securities.
- Business and corporate partners also have the opportunity to become a sponsor at any of Sweetser’s annual fundraising events.

Volunteer Opportunities
- Volunteers add valuable life experience, diverse interests and unique abilities to our various campuses and clients across our state. We welcome corporate teams and other nonprofit groups to join us in creating ways to give back and make a difference.

- We also have opportunities to join our Development Committee, event specific committees and Board of Directors for those looking to make a significant contribution and impact towards reducing mental health stigma and expanding treatment access.
