Six new jobs will be coming to J.S. McCarthy Printers when a new paper-cutting machine is installed at the Augusta-based commercial printer’s facility at 15 Darin Drive.
The Kennebec Journal spoke to Rick Tardiff, company president and chief executive officer, about the benefits of installing the new machine that allows J.S. McCarthy to cut paper sheets from larger rolls in-house, instead of having local papermakers send rolls to Allentown, Pa., to be cut.
“Currently, we buy sheets from suppliers,” Tardiff told the newspaper. “We’re going to bring that in-house for efficiency and saving money.”
The installation and subsequent 14,400-square-feet, $2.5 million expansion is the third expansion at the company since 2007.
