We all get a little weary of headlines dominated by political acrimony and dour economic predictions. And given the run-up to an election year and the stubborn refusal of some economic indicators to move upward, there's been an abundance of both.
Our antidote? The Mainebiz annual Next List, where we present profiles of 10 Mainers who are shaping Maine's economy in a significant way. In the process, they inspire us all.
This year's list includes profiles of companies with roots deep in traditional Maine industries, such as shoemaking and agriculture, to those making waves in broadband technology and green building design. They reflect the mix of diversified businesses that collectively strengthens Maine's economy and are helping to propel the state forward, regardless of flat indicators and political buffoonery.
