The Climate Initiative

2023-2024 Goals

TCI’s goal is to engage one million youth in solutions-oriented, equitable climate action by 2025, thus our 2023-2024 goals are:

  • Launch at least three new Learning Labs (our flagship free climate change educational modules) on the topics of: Climate Justice and Equity; Preparing Youth for the Green Economy; and Civics Climate Action Lab
  • Expand the number of students (93,000) currently being taught with Learning Labs; currently in all 50 states and 13 countries!
  • Revamp our Monitoring & Evaluation program to ensure both fiscal responsibility with our donor dollars as well as more effectively measure our impact with key stakeholders
  • Grow and activate the TCI Ambassador Program (currently over 1,000 strong)
  • Represent TCI at the UN Global Climate Change Conference (COP28)
  • Pilot a new Community College program to reach youth that are historically underrepresented in the climate conversation
  • Expand our reach via our partnerships with FEMA and the American Red Cross

Fundraising events/Opportunities

TCI offers a variety of fundraising events and engagement opportunities for donors. This includes opportunities to attend portions of key programming to see TCI’s work in action, including donor-specific versions of our impactful community conversation programming. We also accept sponsorships and host traditional donor events like dinners, happy hour gatherings and more. We are interested in pursuing new event opportunities such as book talks and interactive engagement on the impacts of climate change, and are eager for collaboration with partners that are interested in sponsoring, supporting physical space for events and encouraging staff of potential partners to join us! Please reach out to amanda@theclimateinitiative.org to discuss specific ideas.

60 interdisciplinary educators from across the country attended TCI’s 3rd Annual Climate Educators Retreat in Saco, Maine!

Giving Opportunities

TCI holds a spring and end-of-year giving campaign and ongoing giving opportunities (one-time, monthly, quarterly, annual giving, estate planning and stock options) at theclimateinitiative.org/donate. Like-minded businesses and organizations can connect with TCI through our Partnership Program. Please reach out to amanda@theclimateinitiative.org for more information.

Volunteer Opportunities

TCI encourages educators of all disciplines to download our free Learning Lab educational modules, attend one of our regional or national educator retreats, or reach out to TCI with ideas, suggestions or questions at info@theclimateinitiative.org. Other interested adults can sign up and volunteer as adult allies and send interested high school or college-aged youth in their lives to the TCI Ambassador Program: theclimateinitiative.org/connect/

The TCI mission centers on building climate hope in youth through climate action.
