Construction continues in the Downs, the 577-acre mixed-use community being developed off U.S. Route 1 in Scarborough.
The newest commercial building being completed is at 10 Market St. and will offer both retail and office spaces, for purchase as condominiums or for lease.
The 31,753-square-foot building is projected to have 1,600- to 5,000-square-foot retail units on the first floor and 2,400- to 10,627-square-foot offices on the second and third floors.
Drew Sigfridson, senior partner at the Boulos Co., said the property has received interest from local and regional businesses.
“We have counseling services, dental, financial planning and restaurant users interested, and under contract, for various parts of the building,” he said. “It’s rare to be able to purchase a small commercial retail or office space of this size. We expect it will be full by the end of 2025, and will have users occupying the building this spring.”
Risbara Brothers Construction, of Scarborough, is the general contractor.
The Downs community already includes multiple apartment and condominium residences, with more to come, and commercial projects are also under development, including a Market Basket grocery store, an Intermed medical building and offices for IDEXX.
