Fundraising events/opportunities

The Cross for LifeFlight, which takes place every August, is our largest fundraising event of the year. Every mile we Cross and every dollar we raise ensures that the next person in Maine who faces a life-threatening medical emergency has access to advanced critical care. In 2026, we introduced the Cross for LifeFlight Family Fun 5k. Participants can also choose where, when, and how they want to “Cross” for LifeFlight on their own. We welcome support through participation or sponsorships and are always looking to build new partnerships.

Giving opportunities

The demand for LifeFlight of Maine’s services continues to grow alongside the challenges facing access to care in Maine. LifeFlight transported 3,031 patients in 2025 — an increase of more than 10% from 2024. LifeFlight’s mission simply is not possible without the support of generous donors to the LifeFlight Foundation. We raise funds for capital projects, including aircraft, aviation and communication infrastructure, medical equipment, wellness and support for the flight crew, and ongoing education for the LifeFlight team and our EMS partners. Our supporters from the business community are essential to our mission. We work with each one to build meaningful partnerships and identify giving opportunities that have a lifesaving impact on our communities, families, colleagues, neighbors, and friends.

Volunteer opportunities

One of the best ways you can help, apart from your financial support, is by donating blood. LifeFlight is the only EMS agency in the state that carries blood products and can administer blood on scene. For patients that need it, that can mean survival against the odds. We encourage everyone who is able to donate blood to find a blood drive and roll up their sleeve — LifeFlight partners with the Red Cross several times a year to host blood drives, but appointments with the Red Cross are available daily.

Each year through our Community Giving Program, we reach out to municipalities across Maine asking for their support. We invite our friends and supporters to advocate for LifeFlight in their community. Please reach out to us to find out more about how you can help.
