From robotics to wilderness skills, Thomas College in Waterville will offer hands-on learning experiences to high school students this summer with a trio of immersive academic summer camps.
The program is designed to build skills and offer real-world exploration of science, technology, engineering and math as well as outdoor leadership while giving participants their first taste of life on a college campus.
Summer lineup
This summer’s lineup includes three overnight camp experiences on the Thomas College campus. They include the following.
- Robotics Innovation Camp is a three-week residential program focusing on engineering design, innovation and programming using Spike Prime LEGO kits. It will run from July 12 to Aug. 1.
- Wilderness Skills & Outdoor Leadership Camp focuses on navigation, environmental stewardship and leadership through field experiences. It will run from June 27 to July 2 or July 12 to Aug. 1.
- K9 Searching & Detecting Camp, a residential program introducing scent science and the fundamentals of working with K9 teams. It will run from July 12 to July 17.
Thomas College, led by President Jeannine Diddle Uzzi, is a career-focused private college founded in 1864. It offers programs in the arts and sciences, business and education.
The school is ranked No. 17 among Maine’s largest colleges and universities in the 2026 Mainebiz Book of Lists, based on full-time undergraduate enrollment of 672 in fall 2025.
