Geaghan Brothers Brewing, Gifford’s Ice Cream and Governor’s Restaurant found a creative way to support Good Shepherd Food Bank and area hunger programs in 2018. The three companies partnered with Buoy Local, a program of Bangor Savings Bank, to donate a portion of their sales through the year to help fight hunger.
Those efforts led to Buoy Local’s recent $20,000 donation to Good Shepherd Food Bank.
Geaghan Brothers Brewing, Governor’s, and Giffords are three of more than 750 Maine-owned businesses that provide special deals and discounts to customers through the Buoy Local application.
Buoy Local just celebrated a landmark occasion when participating businesses hit the $1 million mark, representing sales generated by participation in the Buoy Local program.
“Working with three Maine businesses that are all meaningful contributors to the state’s local economy just made sense,” said Bangor Savings Bank President and CEO Bob Montgomery-Rice. “We each share the belief that shopping local helps a community thrive and what better way to support our local communities than donating $20,000 to help fight hunger.”
The Buoy Local card is issued by MetaBank, a member of FDIC.
