The Maine Housing Opportunity Program is hosting a technical assistance information session for Greater Portland municipalities to assist them in implementing recent housing legislation.
Laws discussed will include:
- LD 2173, “An Act to Update the Laws Regarding Housing Developments and Accessory Dwelling Units”
- LD 1829, “An Act to Build Housing for Maine Families and Attract Workers to Maine Businesses by Amending the Laws Governing Housing Density”
- LD 997, “An Act to Allow Residential Use Development in Commercial Districts”
- LD 427, “An Act to Regulate Municipal Parking Space Minimums.”
The hybrid session will take place Aug. 27 at 4 p.m. in the conference room at the Greater Portland Council of Governments office, 970 Baxter Blvd. in Portland.
The session is geared toward planning board members, and town staff and planners, and in-person attendance is recommended. It will cover frequently asked questions and best practices, and provide opportunities for questions. The session is expected to run for 1.5 hours.
