TrueValue in Freeport closes, inventory will be auctioned

The TrueValue Freeport Hardware store has closed its doors, with the inventory set to be liquidated.

The physical space itself, with separate ownership, is for rent. The retail site is at 262 U.S. Route 1, south of downtown Freeport.

Keenan Auction Co. in Portland will handle the auction of the inventory and equipment, according to Steven P. Kennan. It’s an online auction that will close June 8.

Equipment being auctioned includes two forklifts, a 40-foot storage container, storage sheds, Coleman cookout gear, paint inventory and related goods, power tools, fastener inventory and plumbing and electrical supplies, according to the Keenan site. Inventory details are posted on Keenan’s website under “equipment auctions.”

Freeport Hardware was acquired in 2020, according to a Mainebiz story from 2021.
