Two Maine-based signage firms are merging to form a full-service company

Two Maine-based architectural signage firms, Welch Sign and Bailey Sign, say they are merging in order to better meet new customer needs across the Northeast.

Terms and details of the merger were not disclosed.

Welch Sign, based at 7 Lincoln Ave. in Scarborough, is in the custom architectural signage and graphic business, serving clients throughout the United States.

Bailey Sign Inc., with headquarters at 9 Thomas Drive in Westbrook, focuses on custom exterior, electronic and illuminated signage for various types of clients. Both companies have been in business for decades.

The companies said their combination fills a void in the market for distinct types of signage from a single, comprehensive source, and helps the businesses take a step toward becoming a “one-stop shop.”

Following the merger, Welch Sign and Bailey Sign will maintain their brand identities while operating as a unified entity. Both companies will continue to operate out of separate buildings due to real estate and space constraints.

“We see this merger as an exciting opportunity to enhance our capabilities and provide even greater value to our customers,” said Erik Joncas, chief revenue officer of Welch Sign. “By combining the strengths of our organizations, we’re positioned to lead the industry forward and offer innovative solutions to meet the evolving needs of our clients.”

Clients will now have access to a broader range of expert sign solutions from a single supplier, offering tailored, customer-focused options.

“The benefits to our clients extend into their entire experience with us,” the companies said in a press release. “As a consolidated one-stop shop, we bring together Welch Sign’s project management excellence and Bailey Sign’s electrical and lighting expertise. This integration means smoother project flows and a more cohesive approach to signage needs.”
