Maine’s unemployment rate held at 6.8% in June. That level, reached in May, was the lowest unemployment rate in Maine since November 2008.
The Maine Department of Labor reported the latest estimates show the national unemployment rate at 7.6%, also unchanged from May and lower than 8.2% one year ago. Compared with June 2012, Maine’s figures are also down, from 7.3%.
Maine’s jobless rate remains higher than New Hampshire and Vermont but is lower than the rates in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut.
