The co-founder of an online website for tides, weather, and coastal data has taken full ownership of the company.
Jamie Bloomquist acquired Camden-based US Harbors from John Hanson.Â
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Bloomquist financed the deal through Maine State Credit Union. The sale finalized at the end of 2023.
USHarbors.com was established in 2009 to provide coastal information, including tide charts, weather forecasts and local knowledge tailored to the needs of boaters and coastal residents.Â
Over the years, the platform has attracted over 12 million users and covers 1,500 harbors.
In 2022, Hanson, the platform’s seller, sold Rockland-based Maine Boats, Homes & Harbors, a publication he founded in 1987.
Bloomquist, who created the US Harbors business and the website USHarbors.com with Joshua Moore in 2009, said he plans to expand the platform’s reach and services for mariners nationwide.
That plan includes continuing to provide essential coastal information while exploring new opportunities for expansion and innovation in the marine industry.
“We’re discussing those plans now,” Bloomquist told Mainebiz.Â
The company has one employee, Anastasia Fischer, who serves as president.
“Anastasia has been running this and is doing an incredible job,” Bloomquist said. “She’s made incredible strides and has a great group of committed advertisers. I’m in the process of learning.”The website includes tide charts, weather forecasts and local knowledge tailored to the needs of boaters and coastal residents.Â
Bloomquist’s experience in the marine industry includes his role as national sales manager for Back Cove Yachts in Rockland. His vision for USHarbors.com includes enhancing user experience, expanding partnerships with coastal businesses and organizations, and introducing innovative features to better serve the needs of boaters and coastal communities.
The acquisition signals a new growth phase, said Bloomquist.Â
“We are dedicated to providing valuable tidal data, weather observations and forecasts, and coastal flooding information while fostering connections within coastal communities across the United States and helping our audience of boaters, coastal businesses, travelers and waterfront homeowners,” he said.Â
