Verizon is getting ready to hand over its landlines in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont in a multibillion dollar deal with FairPoint Communications.
Verizon on March 31 will spin off its northern New England landline business. The new business, Northern New England Spinco Inc., will immediately merge with North Carolina-based FairPoint, according to a press release.
The deal, which has been valued at $2.35 billion, has been in the works for more than a year.
