Three employee unions at Verso Paper’s Bucksport mill are expected to vote today on a new contract, according to the Bangor Daily News.
Members of the United Steel Workers, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and the International Association of Machinists have worked without a contract since July. The unions are negotiating better retirement benefits and health plans.
Members of the USW rejected Verso’s first contract offer on Nov. 15, the paper said. The vote today could determine whether the workers stay at the mill or go on strike.
