Verso Paper said it has sent severance payments to the last of more than 500 workers who were laid off from the now-shuttered Bucksport mill.
The Bangor Daily News reported that a human resources officer for Verso’s former mill said in a Tuesday court filing that all of its $18 million in severance claims were paid out.
The International Association of Machinists, which represents the former mill’s workers, wants the U.S. District Court in Bangor to reconsider their claim that Verso should have settled its severance pay earlier.
