VIP Tires & Service expands in deal with Connecticut auto shop

VIP Tires & Service has expanded operations in Connecticut with the acquisition of Lyons Auto Service, in West Hartford.

It’s VIP’s fourth acquisition in the Constitution State.

VIP, which is based in Auburn, has 77 locations throughout New England, including 35 in Maine.

Lyons Auto Service has two service buildings at 1056 New Britain Ave. in West Hartford. Renovations will include new automotive, tire and alignment equipment. New lifts will also be installed this winter, and major facility renovations are planned for this spring.

The shop has eight employees, including several state emissions inspectors, and VIP said it plans to hire more staff.

“West Hartford is an important market for VIP, and this acquisition allows us to better say ‘yes’ to our customers,” said Tim Winkeler, president and CEO of VIP Tires & Service.

“By expanding store hours, adding staff, and investing in new mechanical services and tire offerings, we’re committed to delivering the level of service, convenience and expertise drivers in this community deserve.”

VIP Tires & Service claims to be northern New England’s largest privately held automotive service provider and tire dealer, employing over 800 team members. It is owned by John Quirk and has been in business since 1926.
