2024 Goals
Waypoint’s strategic plan encourages and celebrates an inclusive and self-empowered workforce, with an emphasis on transparency, integrity and accountability. As responsible stewards of our financial and other resources, Waypoint supports diversity, fairness and inclusion to align the work environment with those ideals.
Waypoint has set an ambitious goal of providing affordable and stable housing for our employees, Shared Living providers and our independent members who need it. We currently have over 50 one-, two- and three-bedroom homes and apartments, with over 35 designated for our employees. We have re-designed the workweek for all our direct care workers, increasing their hourly wage while reducing their days worked to three- or four-day workweeks. Waypoint understands a work-life balance is key to good health and happy employees. We offer all staff, their families and our members access to our waterfront during the summer months, including lifeguards for swimming, along with fishing, boat rides, kayaking, movie nights, campfires and more.
Waypoint is one of the first Maine programs serving people with intellectual disabilities and autism to offer remote technology and support to our members. Cameras, sensors and other enabling technology help maximize our members’ independence and daily living skills while promoting safety and wellbeing.
Fundraising events/Opportunities
- Waypoint’s Annual Music Fest is the foremost fundraising event: In May 2024, we’ll continue our in-person event, centered at our historic waterfront camp, featuring children’s activities and live music. This important fundraiser benefits Waypoint Maine’s Fraser Ford School, Children’s Case Management and Outpatient Services.
- Every September Waypoint Maine hosts its annual Golf Tournament. This year on Sept. 22, we’ll host our 12th annual tournament to support Waypoint Maine’s athletes at the Maine Special Olympics.
Funding ensures that children and adults with intellectual disabilities continue to thrive, and financial support provides increased access to community activities which promote health, fitness and overall wellbeing.

- Launches in October and benefits all of Waypoint Maine’s programs.

Volunteer Opportunities
Annually, our volunteers log hundreds of hours maintaining Waypoint Maine’s campus, which includes handicapped-accessible trails, an historic waterfront area and playgrounds at our Fraser Ford School. Numerous volunteers, many through area businesses seeking to give back, volunteer their time to weed, rake and mulch and help maintain our trails and grounds.
