For our fourth annual 40 Under 40 program, a prominent theme is family ties.

Whether it comes to naming a personal hero or invitations for a dream dinner party, grandparents, especially, are top of mind for this year’s honorees. (See more about this in the introduction to the profiles.)
An interesting insight into the honorees’ personalities was their so-called lightbulb moment — which is included in the profiles included in this issue.
A lightbulb moment could be a simple thing. One honoree said her revelation came when she learned how to delegate.
Giving back was a key theme, whether at work, personally or in volunteering.
An honoree said having experienced struggles that were out of her control helped create empathy for others going through hard times. Another cited the “profound effect that community support can have” on survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. And one honoree said his “aha moment” came while tutoring a young student, seeing inspiration in an everyday event.
The workplace can help lead to insights.
“I realized I didn’t need to leave Maine to have a big career or make an impact,” said one honoree. Another said: “I learned that I didn’t have to work in a place that doesn’t align with my values.”
The 40 Under 40 profiles offer interesting insights into this year’s honorees. Take a look and hopefully we’ll see you at the reception at Thompson’s Point on Nov. 6.
