Westbrook accounting firm TSG joined London-based Russell Bedford International, a global network of professional services firms providing accounting, audit, tax and consulting services. TSG was formerly known as the Swanson Group.
Joining Bedford gives TSG access to a global network of around 1,000 partners and 11,000 staff across more than 100 countries, supporting its continued growth and work with clients on cross-border matters.
Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
International strength
Founded in 2012 by CEO Tabitha Swanson, TSG has grown from a team of three to more than 30 employees.
"We were looking for an international network that would help us further strengthen the support we provide to clients with cross-border matters, give us access to specialist expertise where needed and create valuable learning opportunities for our team,” said Swanson.
Founded in 1983, Bedford has more than $1 billion in global fee income and nearly 400 offices with over 1,000 partners and over 11,000 employees in more than 100 countries.
Stephen Hamlet, Bedford’s CEO, said TSG “has achieved impressive growth while building an award-winning culture that clearly puts both its people and clients first. Their collaborative approach and people-first ethos make them an excellent fit for our global network, further strengthening our presence in the U.S.”
Earlier this year, TSG expanded beyond Maine with the acquisition of Brauel & Brauel in North Conway, N.H. Following the acquisition, TSG projected $6.5 million in revenue, while serving 4,000 commercial and personal clients.
It was TSG’s seventh acquisition in the past decade. TSG now has 30 employees in Westbrook and five in New Hampshire.
Leadership hire
TSG also hired Lenny Rendell as executive director. Rendell previously spent 16 years at Portland’s BerryDunn, where he served as a principal advising commercial clients. At TSG, his focus includes mentoring and developing staff, strengthening client relationships and expanding the firm’s presence beyond Maine.
Swanson remains CEO, shifting focus from serving clients directly to building the firm, with priorities that include guiding TSG toward an employee stock ownership plan.
TSG ranks No. 10 among Maine’s largest accounting firms, based on 2024 revenue of $4.8 million, and No. 13 among Maine’s largest woman-owned businesses, based on the number of Maine employees, according to the 2026 Mainebiz Book of Lists.
