Tim Soley, the president of East Brown Cow Management, says he has his sights set on constructing Maine’s largest building in Portland’s Old Port district in the next few years.
The residential building would stand at 23 stories — easily surpassing the 16-story Franklin Towers in Portland — which is the tallest inhabited building in Maine, according to the Bangor Daily News. Soley hopes that the building would be located at the corner of Union Street and Patton Court.
The BDN reported that Soley’s plan is in its early stages, and has yet to be presented to city officials. A height of 250 feet would top the 125-foot height limit for that area, but city officials told the BDN that the limit could be changed.
“The vision is about the urbanization of Portland,” Soley told the BDN. “People are moving here … not just because of the natural landscape, but also because of the urban landscape. And that’s something that needs to be nurtured and enhanced.”
