Kennebunk-based stationery company William Arthur, the town’s second-largest employer, will head to Massachusetts in 2013 after a merger with Crane & Co.
The Portland Press Herald reported that the deal will eliminate the company’s 270 Kennebunk-based jobs after consolidating at Crane & Co.’s North Adams, Mass., facility in the second half of 2013. The merger price was not disclosed.
Around 100 jobs will be offered to those current employees at William Arthur, a unit of Hallmark Cards Inc., and those choosing not to relocate will get offers for severance and outplacement assistance, the paper reported.
