Gov. Paul LePage’s latest nomination for the Maine Public Utilities Commission was confirmed by the Maine Senate on Tuesday.
The Bangor Daily News reported that the Senate voted 25-10 to approve the nomination of Bruce Williamson, who is currently senior economist at the Institute for Nuclear Security at the University of Tennessee’s Howard Baker Center for Public Policy.
With Williamson, the PUC will be composed entirely of LePage-appointed members. LePage said in a prepared statement that “the state’s ratepayers will benefit from the wide range of perspectives and experience this commission has, and I am eager for these talented professionals to begin their work on the state’s complex energy issues and challenges.”
