Cold weather headed for Maine has put a strain on firewood supplies across the state and already led to cancellations of flights out of Portland and Bangor airports.
The Associated Press reported some firewood dealers are scrambling for new supplies after frigid temperatures through December and January caused people to burn more wood than usual. The Bangor Daily News reported that the storm, expected to drop nearly a foot of snow on mid-Atlantic states and southern New England, has grounded four flights at Bangor International Airport and cancelled six of Portland International Jetport’s departures.
