A lineup of events targeted at innovation and entrepreneurship prompted the executive director of the Maine Center for Entrepreneurial Development to name June “Maine Entrepreneurship Month.”
From the stage at the University of Maine, where he was emcee of the Top Gun Showcase Wednesday night, MCED’s Don Gooding excitedly rattled off a list of events scheduled throughout June in Maine, some of which were newly announced.
Here are the events:
June 4: Pitches are open for a kinder “Shark Tank” program called Greenlight Maine where 26 entrepreneurs from Maine will vie for a $100,000 prize in a TV show to be filmed in July and aired for 13 weeks starting in September.
Ongoing: ScaleUp Portland, a program funded by the U.S. Small Business Administration that aims to take companies at the $100,000 to $500,000 revenue level to the next level
June 11: PROPEL entreverge 2015 awards
June 12: Envision Maine’s Economy & Climate Change seminar, which examines climate change as an entrepreneurial opportunity
June 12-14: StartUp Weekend: Women’s Edition
June 18: Gorham Savings Bank LaunchPad finalist competition
June 22: Maine Technology Institute’s TechWalk 2015
June 22-28: Maine Startup & Create Week
End of June: Startup America Partnership, which supports a national network of startup communities, is expected to come to Portland.
The Top Gun Showcase and a PubHub event in Portland on June 2 that featured Corky Ellis, the founder of Kepware Technologies, helped kick off the month.
