Portland startup Marin Skincare, known for its Lobster Lotion, is adding new products to its lineup and says it has seen growth over the last year.
In a nod to the classic summer treat enjoyed around the campfire, Marin Skincare released a Campfire S’mores lip treatment. Like the company’s signature product, the new one is made with lobster glycoproteins.
The new lip product also has the scent of roasted marshmallows, cinnamon-honey graham crackers, caramelized vanilla and milk chocolate.
The product is intended to “deeply hydrate, repair, smooth, soothe and protect lips,” the company said in a news release. The treatment can be used for everyday dry, chapped lips and conditions like perioral dermatitis — eczema around the lips and mouth.

“We were astounded by the response to our Blueberry French Toast lip treatment launch last fall, which was fueled by viral video testimonials on both TikTok and Instagram,” said Amber Boutiette, Marin co-founder, chief product officer and a 2023 Mainebiz 40 Under 40 honoree.
“The lip treatments have helped us expand further into the beauty market, and we wanted our next scent to be inspired by Maine, which is why we chose Campfire S’mores for this new launch.”
The company said Thursday that sales have grown significantly since Marin launched in 2020 and that it more than doubled its full-time workforce in the last year, growing from three to seven.
The startup sources its key ingredient, lobster glycoprotein, from Maine seafood company Luke’s Lobster. Marin estimates it utilizes protein from over 50% of the lobsters processed at Luke’s. Together, the partnership has created 10 new full-time jobs this year.
Marin Skincare has also established a retail partnership with L.L.Bean and Sea Bags, as well as 54 other Maine retailers.
