Woodfords Family Services

2021 Goals

Expand the agency’s Early Childhood Services Program that is currently serving preschoolers with significant development needs due to autism or related disabilities to provide special purpose schooling opportunities to children in Kindergarten through second grade.

Renew the agency’s accreditation through the Council on Accreditation.

Woodfords’ vision for individuals with special needs is that they may:

  • maximize their potential;
  • be productive and appreciated contributors to their neighborhoods and community;
  • have positive and enriching relationships;
  • live lives that are safe and secure; and,
  • lead lives allowing for choice.

Fundraising Events/Opportunities

Woodfords hosts two major fundraising events each year—an Auction Gala and 5K. As large gathered events are not possible, this year’s Auction will be held online October 22 through 25. Sponsorships, auction item donations, and bidding on items during the auction are ways that businesses and donors can get involved this year. The Superhero 5k is typically held the first Saturday in June at Pineland Farms in New Gloucester. More than 275 people in superhero costumes complete the run. Businesses and donors can sponsor the event, register a team to participate or make a donation in support of a runner. Registration opens January 1. Companies can host a fundraising event for the agency — a bottle drive, dress down day, raffle or Facebook fundraiser — at any time.

Giving Opportunities

Become an annual corporate sponsor to support agency operations. Please let the agency know if your company or committee would be willing to accept a request or proposal for partnership. Benefits of sponsorship include recognition in related promotional materials, printed and digital communications and on social media platforms. Host a Facebook fundraiser on behalf of Woodfords, one of our programs or preschools.

Volunteer Opportunities

Typically Woodfords engages volunteers in hands-on projects—seasonal garden and playground projects; maintenance or improvement projects; assisting at consumer events for children such as our agency Halloween Party; or providing support at monthly Respite Nights for therapeutic foster families. Currently, for health and safety reasons, opportunities are limited. The agency is always seeking out opportunities to connect with civic groups, professional associations, community organizations and churches.

Awards/Accolades

Woodfords is accredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA), whose program of quality improvement is designed to identify providers that have met high performance standards and have made a commitment to their stakeholders to deliver the very best quality services. The Department of Health and Human Services Office of Child and Families Services awarded the Training and Resource Center a contract expansion for the existing Behavioral Health Professional Training and Certificate Program. Under the expansion, the Program will implement enhanced recruitment and retention efforts to increase the availability of Behavioral Health Professionals throughout the state to meet the growing need of Maine’s children. Our Expeditions Community Supports Program’s soccer team, the Woodfords Wildcats, received the Gold Medal for their performance in the Special Olympics for the third year in a row!
