Woodfords Family Services

2023 Goals

Woodfords’ vision for individuals with special needs is that they may:

  • maximize their potential;
  • be productive and appreciated contributors to their neighborhoods and community;
  • have positive and enriching relationships;
  • live lives that are safe and secure; and,
  • lead lives allowing for choice.

The agency will continue to be responsive to our consumers’ changing needs by expanding critical educational, clinical, family support and training programs; advocating for more adequate mental and behavioral health service capacity throughout the state; and advocating for more state funding for early intervention services such as therapeutic preschools.

Fundraising/Event Opportunities

Held in the fall, 300 area business leaders, consumer families and elected officials typically attend Woodfords annual Auction Gala. More than 250 items are up for bid in both silent and live auctions. Sponsorship, item donation, committee service, and ticket purchase are ways that businesses and donors can get involved. This year’s event will be held on Oct. 15, 2022 at the Portland Sheraton Oaks. Woodfords’ Superhero 5k is held in early June at Pineland Farms in New Gloucester. More than 200 costumed registrants run or walk the wooded trails. A local brewery hosts the after-party. Businesses and donors can sponsor the event, register to participate, or make an online donation. FMI about these events or hosting a fundraiser of your own to benefit Woodfords, email development@woodfords.org.

Giving Opportunities

Woodfords’ Holiday Giving Campaign supports consumers and families with winter clothing, heat, food and holiday gifts. Just $25 sponsors a Thanksgiving meal for four. A $50 gift card buys a warm jacket and boots for a child or adult. Support people in your community with special needs through a donation to the campaign or by matching employee gifts to the Campaign. Purchase something from our Amazon Wish List. Donate to our Family Emergency Fund administered by our Case Management Team, which helps families with unexpected urgent needs. Support Woodfords Community Fund through the donation of tickets, passes or gift cards to sporting events, entertainment venues or food or retail shops. The Fund helps our consumers experience community life.

Volunteer Opportunities

Get involved with Woodfords through service on an event planning committee. Host a fundraising event on behalf of Woodfords at your location and raise awareness about autism and other special needs among your employees and business contacts. Help us find community activities for consumers and families. Does your company have tickets or passes to donate? Do you have a connection to a vendor or business that does? Volunteer your time to meet with a member of our development team to brainstorm ways to get involved that match your mission, marketing and community engagement efforts by emailing development@woodfords.org.
