An employee who was fired from an Auburn propane distribution company recently won his lawsuit for unlawful dismissal.
A jury awarded Daniel Mayo, former employee of DCP Midstream, $87,000 for lost wages and humiliation and emotional distress, reported television station WCSH 6 on Tuesday. Mayo, the only black employee at the company, was fired after he complained of racially offensive conduct and language.
Jurors were deadlocked on whether to award Mayo punitive damages, so that issue will be considered at a new trial scheduled for May.
