Central Maine Community College in Auburn has named Susan Rogers, a community college executive with a track record in workforce development and institutional innovation, as its next president.
Rogers, a vice president at Dutchess Community College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., will start her new role on Aug. 10.
“Community colleges create opportunity by design, and CMCC already has strong programs, strong partnerships and a deep commitment to students,” Rogers said.
“I look forward to working with faculty, staff, students, employers and community partners to build on that foundation and expand opportunity for the people and communities we serve,” she added.
Rogers succeeds Betsy Libby, now a vice president and chief academic affairs and enrollment management officer with the Maine Community College System.
‘From classroom to leadership’
Rogers has been chief of staff and vice president for institutional effectiveness at Dutchess Community College since 2022, and previously served as interim vice president of instruction and learning.
During her time at the school, she oversaw the opening of its Mechatronics Lab, launched a professional microcredential program and helped establish an Office of Workforce Development and Continuing Education.
Previously, at the State University of New York Sullivan, she was a faculty member and division chair who helped develop a first-year-experience program, expand the culinary program’s community presence and lead strategic planning efforts.
“It’s invaluable to have a college president with firsthand experience from the classroom to the leadership team,” said David Daigler, president of the Maine Community College System.
