From the “Cloudy Forecast” edition published in January to December’s manufacturing focus, Mainebiz has spotlighted into a vast array of topics and sectors on its pages in 2023.
All covers are designed by Mainebiz Art Director Matt Selva, who racked up four more design awards this year. They include two from the Alliance of Area Business Publishers and two from the New England Newspaper and Press Association.

For an April 2023 cover story about the impact of the Silicon Valley Bank collapse in Maine, Selva ventured into new territory, using artificial intelligence to evoke a scene from “It’s a Wonderful Life,’ the 1946 movie starring Jimmy Stewart as banker George Bailey.
The A.I.-aided illustration, a first for Mainebiz, is highlighted in Mike Reilley’s new book, “The Journalist’s Toolbox: A Guide to Digital Reporting and AI,” published by Routledge.
While all Mainebiz editorial content is available digitally to subscribers, print editions remain popular.
